So every Monday, we have a music theory class where we learn to read music. For the past few months or so, we've been learning how to know which notes are which, how long you hold each of them, how loud or soft you play them, and how many beats you have in a measure. These guys have been doing great, and this Monday we tested our knowledge by reading a very difficult line of music. Looking at the pictures, I'm sure this music looks scary enough that some would run from the room screaming, but not these guys! We went through it together note by note, and got through a lot of it. As difficult as it was, everyone stuck with it and gave it their all! In short, these guys are amazing!!! How many people do you know that can look at this music and make sense of it?

We are hosting this awesome workshop with one of our finest volunteers--Suzi Blu! Go here to register. I guarantee that you will have a fabulous time!
We've got super awesome volunteers. For real. Our newest volunteer, Meghan, is leading a Mixed Media class (think photography, sewing, and who knows what else)! It's particularly awesome when we get to use DSLR cameras! Check these guys out--they are pros!
I had several college professors ask me to consider going into education. I have NO desire to work with 30 kids or deal with state-decided curriculum. BUT I LOVE MAKING POSTERS! We learned all about hue, value, and saturation, and then created the red scale below using paint chips (we sure love free supplies)! These guys did an AWESOME job. This stuff is tough, and they were all super motivated to continue to
We are looking into doing online sales, in addition to our sales in house during Salt Lake Gallery Stroll! This is an exciting, and slightly overwhelming time for us here at CCA as we try to build inventory that we think you all will be interested in purchasing! So, here is where we need you: What products would you be most interested in purchasing? Currently, we are selling prints, magnets, and original artwork. We are planning to make cards for the August Gallery Stroll. Calendars? Pins? Wrapping paper? Tell us what you want to see!
Last month, Jon presented his digital story at the Salt Lake Arts Festival through the Salt Lake Community Writing Center. We have been waiting oh-so-patiently for the video to be put onto the SLCWC website, and it has arrived!! Check out Jon's story, and let us know what you think!
We are almost ready. The walls look fabulous, everybody is excited about ice cream treats, and there's just a little bit more cleaning to be done! We hope to see you tonight! 6-9pm. Be there
Come out and get yours! Lindee's lovely daughter will be serving up the rootbeer floats--we will be living in the lap of luxury over here! We will also be presenting a BRAND NEW media during this stroll! It's super cool, and you DEFINITELY want to catch a little listen!
Salt Lake Gallery Stroll is THIS FRIDAY! Wahoo! This month, we've got some crazy-good pieces to display. We are so excited to show off our new works and the skills that we have been developing! You definitely want to be there (I mean, there will be root beer floats. What's better than a good root beer float on a hot summer night?). Make sure to check out all of the rest of the galleries on our block! We love supporting the nearby galleries!
