Goodness gracious! We had this in our inbox yesterday morning. Bill's wife got him tickets to see one of his FAVORITE bands live! If that's not the face of pure joy, I don't know what is! Thanks, Amber, for sharing the happiness with us!

We have been GROWING! Check out this open studio from last week! It was full of music, laughter, and creat
Boom Wackers are awesome! Each tube plays a different note, so all together you can play a song! We had each person lead, and we were able to play the song perfectly by the end of class! It was an awesome introduction to reading music, leading a song, and working together to create something fabulous! The Boom Wackers also make really cool noises when you (gently) hit them together like non-dangerous swords. And if you really want to jam out, it's best to hit them on the floor so that you don't hurt your hand. Super cool! We have a lovely volunteer who leads music and percussion classes. We love re-writing lyrics with her! This week, we changed the words to Monster Mash to include 3 witches, a box of darkness, and mashed potatoes and gravy. Way fun! Sorry for the blurry pictures! Apparently we needed some flash for all of those fast movements!
We have an awesome grant writer who has been working her tail off. So what did we buy with the money?? INSTRUMENTS! Instruments galore. It's been like Christmas around here. Every new package is so exciting and we have had a ton of fun exploring the ways to use all of our fun new things! Here are some pictures of us testing things out.
Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, we took the TRAX to the Gallivan Center to watch musical performances at lunch time. On Tuesday, we saw Vienna Froerer, and on Wednesday, we saw Atomic Amy and the Spent Rods. It was fun to go sit out in the beautiful weather, enjoy some good music, and chat with the musicians! Here are some pictures from the concerts:
We are trying out a new class--experimental percussion. In this class, we try out new instruments, and play along with different genres of music, like blue grass, pop country, jazz, and reggae. It's been a lot of fun learning who likes what! It turns out that we all like drumming to reggae! Who knew?
