Yesterday we had such a fun and exciting surprise- Bill visited us! So some of you might remember Bill, who used to attend our program. He was a favorite of many clients here, and even after a year of him being gone, some of our clients will still bring up Bill and how they miss him. Well, he and his wife were visiting this week, so yesterday they came by to say hi! Needless to say, people were a bit excited! I think we may have overwhelmed him a bit with all of the attention we lavished him with :) He even quickly won over a few clients that didn't start attending our program until after he had left. I will say that productivity went out the window for awhile after he got here, but boy, is it good catching up with old friends! We've made many a fast friend here at our art center, and we're glad that Bill and Amber have kept in touch so that we can maintain that friendship!

So first of all, I owe a huge apology for how long it has been since our last post!!! Sorry, and I will try to be more regular about posting about our going ons! Today was one of those days when I was struck with how wonderful our staff and individuals are. This morning we had some really great things going on. In my music theory class, we were putting together a great deal of things we had been going over, and tried not only reading some actual music, but finding where all the notes on the piano were as well! We only got a few measures in, but considering how much is going on in the music, I was hugely impressed with how well the class did! Just take a look at what they read, and also found on the keyboard! They read the key signature, time signature, dynamics, and read every last rest, note, and tie. I was floating from class to class after I was done with music theory this morning, and everyone was so engaged and productive, it just made my heart happy! Jimmy does a fantastic job with his drawing techniques classes each Monday, and today was no exception. Today they were working on drawing different characters, and discovering what different combinations of shapes you can use to draw them. One great thing about Jimmy's classes, is that after giving the broad instructions to the class, he will go around and work with clients individually as they need help to be successful. Here he is talking about some of the demos he drew! Then, when I looked across the room, I found Natasha and another client putting together a strange assortment of things to photograph for the photo fusion class. They were clearly enjoying themselves and focused on their task at hand. I popped into the back room then to take a look at our poppin' dance class. They were taking turns "climbing the ladder." Doesn't Katie had climbed to the top of her ladder and was looking around. Today was one of those days where I was especially grateful to be doing what I'm doing. I love that our program is a place of expression and learning, and am thankful for all of our amazing clients and staff that help it to be just that!
