The paintings began with a common visual theme: shadows of string on an overhead projector that were traced onto a background. From there, a handful of artists added their own embellishments in their individual styles in a variety of media, including acrylic, ink, and collage. Join us at the City Library Sweet Branch on November 10th for the reception of "Stronger Ties." This is an exhibition of collaborative paintings, created by our fabulous TURN Artists!

On another note, our entry the Filmulate genre festival, "Be Afraid", received an award for the best musical score. Natasha created the music by recording short piano excerpts and mixing them in Adobe Premiere. For the end credits, she wrote a poem, google-translated it into French, and sang it. Hooray for trying new things!

Hey guys! We've been keeping busy creating, and we have several events you can attend to see what we've done! First of all, we have several individuals who have entered artwork into the Sandy Visual Arts Show- 12 to be exact! The opening reception was this week, and we have quite a few award winners! Nick P got first place, Monica got 2nd place, Mr. Pierce got 3rd place, Devan got 5th place, and Darin, Katie F, Linda, Chris, Ann, Rose, Cyd, and Shane all got an Honorable Mention certificate. You can view their artwork at the Sandy Senior Center (9310 S 1300 E) through October 26th. Their work is being shown downstairs in the alcove to the right of the stairs. Next up, Gallery Stroll! We took the month off in September because we had so many other things going on, but we're back this month! We have several fantastic pieces, some of them spooky! Come join us! Last, but certainly not least, we are participating in a film festival! We've participated in Filmulate events in the past, but it's been a few years. We entered one of our short films that we made last year that happened to have the same title as this Filmulate event, "Be Afraid" (how fortuitous is that?). The event is Monday the 22nd at 6:30, at The Tower Theater (876 E 900 S). We don't know exactly when in the line-up our film will be showed, so it could be anytime in the evening. The cost is $15, and the proceeds go to help fund creativity in mental health programs in Utah. Also be warned that with the theme of "Be Afraid," there may be other films shown at the event that have content some may find offensive or unsuitable for their viewing. We hope to see you there!
