So I just had to take a moment and brag about how awesome we are! First of all, we dominated at the State Fair! Our program's entries made up the majority of the category, and as such we got plenty of ribbons! Chris, Monica, Ann, Tim, Darin, Rose, Jennifer, and Katie F. all got Honorable Mention ribbons; Walter and Kelly got 6th place ribbons; August and Jon W. got 5th place ribbons; Jessica D and Julia got 4th place ribbons; Earl and Nicholas got 3rd place ribbons; and Jon E. and Bill got 2nd place ribbons! We are so proud of our artists and all they have accomplished through their creativity and hard work. In addition to all of our awesomeness at the State Fair, we also had our own booth at the Urban Arts Festival this past weekend! It was a big undertaking, and a little nerve racking as we had never had a booth in a festival before, but well worth it! In our booth we showcased several drip paintings, string prints, and spray ink pieces that our wonderful artists had made, as well as prints of past works, and magnets and coasters with prints of artwork on them. And let me tell you- the coasters sold like hotcakes! We just about sold out of them and we sold a fair amount of our magnets as well! The response from the public that we got a chance to talk to while manning the booth was very positive! We only sold one original piece in the festival, but we were glad just to participate in such a great event, get our name out there, and display the artwork that our individuals created. A big thank you goes out to those who helped us in pulling this off- Cheryl who was our printer and put up with my incessant pestering, Allison and Jan who helped us get our Square Reader sorted out, Eleanor for arranging for us to use a canopy tent for it, Allison (our fearless leader of yesteryear) for making some signs for us, the TURN facilities crew who helped us lug the stuff over there, and Tony, Shell, Shane, Julia, Bret, Amie (and hubby), August, and Chris, for helping us on the days of the festival. Also, thank you to the clients, staff, and friends who showed up to see our booth and support us! Lastly, a huge thank you to Jose and Cesar for helping with production of goods and prep work, Jason for manning day to day goings on while we were busy with preparations, and a huge huge thank you to Natasha for oh so much that she put into making this event happen! It was a huge success in my books, not to mention a great experience that I hope we'll get a chance to experience again as a program.
