Every Wednesday we have outings to various galleries in the area, so we often get the chance to go see lots of cool visual art in the city. It's always fun when we get a chance to mix things up a little and see a performance, and the Lunch Bunch Concert Series over at the Gallivan Plaza enables us to do that! As hot as it was, we ventured out to check out the concert today (having lathered up with sunblock first, of course), and had so much fun. Once we had staked out a place in the shade, we were set for enjoyment. We got to see a performing group do several different songs, including "Tomorrow," which we had sung this morning in music class! Also, don't forget about our gallery stroll this Friday from 6-9. As me and Natasha have been getting everything ready for the show, it's becoming apparent that this will be one of our best shows yet. Everyone has been working hard to create such wonderful artwork, and it shows!

So we have just had fantastic artwork up the wazoo lately! Natasha has been leading our exploring new materials class, and in there we have been experimenting with some really cool artistic techniques. Today we got out our Icarus Board, and got creative! Natasha taught her class how to do pigmented wax transfer artwork using crayon shavings and our Icarus Board. The results were amazing- just take a look at Ryan and Laura's artwork from class today! It's getting harder and harder each month to choose which artwork goes into our show for gallery stroll, because so much of the work being created is so wonderful! It may make my job harder, and I might jokingly grumble each month when it's time to pick pieces, but I couldn't be happier with how much our artists are growing and progressing. They've all been working hard, trying new things, and getting creative- and it shows!
