People also seemed to really enjoy the art installation room put together by Natasha and her class participants, exploring what love is. We had a recording for people to listen to of various clients from our art installation class talking about love and what they think love is. We also had several envelopes hanging around the room including quotes and small pieces of artwork, and each visitor got to take an envelope with them as a gift of love from us to them. It was a big hit, and many thanks go out to Natasha for putting it together.
Last Friday was our gala celebrating our 6th anniversary, and it was so much fun!!! We had a great turnout- some who knew who we were, and some who wandered in for the first time to learn about us!. The Disgusting Brothers were fantastic as always, and few people made cameos playing with them... Even during the times when it seemed a little slow, I would wander back to the room we were showing our short films in, and it would be packed! we also had some lively bidding on a few of our items we were selling in our silent auction. It was a big hit, and many thanks go out to Natasha for putting it together. Last but certainly not least, one of our mainstays of this event, our community canvas! This year's canvas turned out to be really fun. We had quite a few people contribute to it, although everyone seemed to be afraid of/intimidated by the center of the canvas. At the end of the night, Natasha decided that she would take the responsibility upon herself to fill the center spot with Dmitri the unicorn. She also enjoyed adding commentary to others' paintings. All in all, it's a whimsical, fun, collaborative piece. It was a successful evening, and a big thanks goes out to all of my staff who helped in whatever ways were needed to pull it all together, The Disgusting Brothers for always being willing to play our events, and Ruby Snap for year after year donating their delicious cookies to our event. Thanks all!!!

Hey all! So this month we are celebrating our sixth anniversary as a program! That's right, we've been open and creating for six years now! As per our tradition here, that means that for the February Gallery Stroll, we are throwing a party! This Friday the 16th, we will be living it up and celebrating! We will have The Disgusting Brothers Light playing some great tunes, a silent auction featuring items with various individuals' artwork on them, a community canvas for any and everyone to paint on, the introduction of an installation art piece in our small gallery, and last but certainly not least, Ruby Snap cookies that they have graciously consented to donate for our event! Some of the items that will be auctioned this year are, t-shirts, a canvas tote bag, a comic book, and more! All of the items feature artwork done by our individuals. We are so excited, and look forward to seeing you all there!
