We have some very talented artists at our program, and some have shown interest in developing more as a professionals. This class is focused on entering artwork into shows in the Salt Lake community, creating art portfolios, resumes, and business cards, as well as learning to present themselves and their work in a way that shows the world just how fantastic they each are. Jon has been working on this Ozzy painting for about two years! Part of that time was spent determining the best course of action for fulfilling his vision. Jon realized that he has more control over a paintbrush when he is able to use pointillism as opposed to using regular brush strokes. He has accumulated many fans through this piece, and is excited to submit it to the Utah State Fair, and for it's official showing in September at the TURN CCA Gallery Stroll.
There has been enough interest in purchasing this piece that we have decided to hold a silent auction! Or, we will have to get several people to all sit down together and decide amongst themselves. A silent auction sounds like much more fun! Keep an eye out for more details!
We have been working hard towards becoming better artists, and the work that has been developed here lately is a true reflection of this effort! With that, I am proud to tell you that we have EIGHT artists who have already committed to submitting work to the Utah State Fair! As this is a juried show, I can't promise that all eight will get in, but I can tell you that each of these artists is miles beyond where they were last year. I am incredibly proud of the continuous effort and joy that all of these folks put into their art! So, put it on your calendar now! The Utah State Fair runs from September 4th-14th at the fairgrounds in Salt Lake City. We hope to see you there!
A few weeks ago, we said goodbye to our lovely staff Lindee, who has accepted a Program Assistant position at the new Midvale Day Program. We were very sad to see Lindee go, but also so excited for her to grow and have new experiences! We will introduce you to our new staff once she starts (a week from Monday! WAH
