Okay, so we had both events last week for the art shows that we have some of our artists exhibiting in. Last Monday we had a gala and award presentation for the Sandy Visual Art Show. There were quite a few entries in our category, and even with the volume there, we still received some awards! Katie F. got 5th place in her category, and Chris, Jessi W, Katie G, Nikki, and Jonathan E all got Honorable Mention certificates! In addition to that, Nick, Richard, Ann, Earl, Jessica D, August, Darin, Sabrina, and Nina all got an Award of Merit for their artwork! We're very excited to be so well represented at the Sandy Show. Remember you can still check out the show through October 28th, and it is showing at the Sandy Senior Center, located at 9310 S 1300 E.
Last Thursday there was an artist reception for those participating in the Cottonwood Heights Art Show. It was a nice low key event, where the artists could meet and mingle with each other, and also vote on which piece they think was best in the show. We had quite a few of our artists with work displayed in this show. The show remains on display at the Whitmore Library through the end of October. Although this show did not give out awards, it has still been a great opportunity for our artists to display their work for the public.
So you guys, it is art show season! We have two opening receptions just this week for art shows that our wonderful artists are displaying work in. The Cottonwood Heights Art show is on display right now at the Whitmore Library for the month of October, and we have 12 individuals displaying at that show. There is an artist reception this Thursday the 20th, so you can drop by and talk to the artists about their artwork. The gallery is downstairs in the library, so drop by and check it out!
The other art show we are displaying in is the Sandy Visual Art Show. We've participated in this show in the past, but never quite at this volume. The past few years, the most artists from our program we've had enter work in this show was 3, and this year we had 16 of our artists enter their work! I dropped everything off last week, and I haven't heard yet about anything being juried out, so I think that means that all 16 will be on display! You can check out this show and our wonderful artwork at the Sandy Senior Center located at 9310 S 1300 E from Tuesday, October 18th-Friday, October 28th, and the center is open from 10 am-6 pm. This show also is presenting awards to some of the artwork, so make sure you drop by and see what awards we got!
